Highlights: The descent of the Laubehorn in Wengen was interrupted by the bad fall of the Norwegian champion Aleksander Kilde in the steep S on the left that points to the finish line. Emergency services were immediately called for the boyfriend of the American Mikaela Shiffrin who tried in vain to get up on his own, but only managed to sit down and lie down on the snow. In Friday's super-G the French Alexis Pinturault was injured with a ruptured ligament in his right knee and the season was over. The spot where Kilde fell brought to mind the terrible and fatal accident of the young Austrian Gernot Reinstdler on January 18, 1991.

The spot where Kilde fell in the downhill in Wengen immediately brought to mind the terrible and fatal accident of the young Austrian Gernot Reinstdler on January 18, 1991. In fact, in that corner, after a grueling two-and-a-half-minute test, the twenty-year-old Austrian ended up in the nets with his right ski that did not open and his leg remained stuck and subjected to a very strong pull. He suffered fractures with a broken pelvis and heavy internal bleeding: Reinstadler died in the nearby Interlaken hospital after a useless surgery that lasted six hours.
