Half an hour after the start of the counting of the ballots of the Taiwanese presidential elections and with about 160 thousand ballots counted, William Lai, the candidate of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), is in the lead with 39.25 percent, or more than 62 thousand votes.
According to data released by TaiwanPlus News, Hou Yu-ih is running for the KMT nationalists, with 31.27% (49,578 votes), followed by Ko Wen-je of the People's Party (TPP) with 29.48% (46,754 votes).
