Chechnya, a Russian republic of about 1.5 million people, the vast majority of whom are Muslims, is promoting the establishment of a "Palestinian village" in order to absorb the refugees from Gaza who were evacuated from their homes due to the war and managed to leave the Strip.

The village, which will be built in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, will include five residential buildings with 5 apartments. The planned housing area will be about 35,4 square meters. The houses will be located in the Vyzaitovsky district of Grozny, close to a school and a kindergarten.

The capsule laying ceremony for the construction of the future settlement was attended by Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, along with Palestinian refugees. "We will continue to actively promote the continued adaptation of our Palestinian brothers to life in the region of the Chechen Republic, including their employment," Kadyrov said in his speech.

Funding for the construction of the village will be provided by the Ahmat-Hadzhi Kadyrov Regional Public Fund, which has also allocated 100,1 rubles ($200,130) to each Palestinian family.

"Currently, approximately 1 million rubles ($5.1 million) of extrabudgetary funds have been spent on all assistance provided to internally displaced persons, including humanitarian aid sent to the Gaza Strip," noted the Republic's Minister of National Policy, Foreign Relations, Press and Information, Ahmed Dudaib.

According to Alex Tenzer, a social activist and former chairman of the monitoring committee for making promises to immigrants, "Russia received 124,<> refugees from Gaza, almost all of them to areas with a Muslim population. Family members who did not have Russian citizenship, most of them children, received a Russian passport and citizenship. In other areas as well, Russian media reports that refugees from Gaza have received a warm home and good care, for example learning the Russian language and arranging work and studying at a local university."
