Prada, Bottega Veneta, Swarovski, Cos, Valentino and Marella, designer labels and dragons. The big fashion draws inspiration from the Chinese New Year 2024, which celebrates the beginning of the Year of the Dragon, the powerful animal in the Chinese horoscope symbol of prosperity and good fortune, from which, according to an ancient myth, China descends. Prada launches a campaign for a collection on the theme. Inspired by arthouse cinema, the images are characterized by a deep color palette. The portraits feature Du Juan, supermodel and actress, protagonist of Blossoms Shanghai, the TV series directed by Wong Kar-Wai, protagonist of the Prada campaign for the Chinese New Year 2023. Also in the shots is Zhao Lei, the face of Yang Fudong's First Spring, screening at the Pradasphere II exhibition in Shanghai. The project brings together some of China's young talents: art and fashion photographer Leslie Zhang and musician and producer Linfeng. The campaign is set in the Prada Rong Zhai residence, a space inaugurated by Prada in 2017, now home to cultural activities organized by the Prada Group in China. In the collection for her, organza skirts enriched with embroidery stand out, combined with knitwear and belted blazers, pea coats in technical fabrics and wool tops. On her feet, satin mules, brushed or patent leather loafers and black or white sneakers. The bags range from the new Prada Buckle to the Prada Arqué. In its proposals for men, ilRe-Nylon reinvents jackets, trousers and vests. Bottega Veneta also presents a campaign with videos and photos for the Lunar New Year starring the actress Shu Qi. Directed by Jess Jing Zou, The First Sunrise with You, the film celebrates the first sunrise of the year, showing several characters welcoming the sunrise. Under the creative direction of Matthieu Blazy, the video represents Bottega Veneta's fourth collaboration with Jess Jing Zou. The director directed last year's lunar campaign, Reunion in Motion, and two Qixi films, Love in Motion and Towards You. Featuring cinematography by Ken Ngan and a dedicated track composed by Sega Bodega, The First Sunrise with You tackles themes of travel and the dawn of the new year. Shu Qi, Bottega Veneta's brand ambassador since last October, opens the film by looking out from a balcony overlooking the Shanghai skyline.
Valentino offers a collection of Valentino Garavani garments and accessories characterized by the iconic red color of the maison. Brand ambassadors Yang Yang and Yang Zi are the protagonists of the campaign. The Cos collection celebrating the Year of the Dragon includes prints and flowers in a series of designs using hand-crafted digital techniques. Capturing the movement of the dragon, intricate patterns adorn knitted vests, shirts, and turtleneck sweaters. Swarovski unveils the Dragon & Phoenix crystal collection inspired by symbols of Chinese culture: the dragon symbolizes strength, the phoenix signifies harmony, and their union brings good luck and prosperity. The collection includes necklaces, bracelets and earrings, in which the elements of the dragon's claws and phoenix tail are made using the Pointiage and Dancing Stone technique with transparent crystals and Swarovski Zirconia. The Zodiac Dragon collection includes the mini-dragon and lucky coins. The Iconic Swan reinterprets the Swarovski swan by combining pavé red crystals with pearls, in necklaces, bracelets and clip-on earrings. Swarovski's Crystal Rock Oval watch is also in bright red. The Dragon & Phoenix Myriad includes 30,500 crystals, 308 hours to create. At Marella, designer Luca Lin has created the Red Obsession capsule: a collection of 16 models in which the colour red dominates.
