The provinces of Corrientes, Santa Fe, Córdoba, Entre Ríos, Chaco, Jujuy, Salta and Tucumán are under yellow level alert for storms, while the same alert level applies to the provinces of Chubut and Santa Cruz due to winds, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) reported today.

The storm alert completely covers the provinces of Corrientes, Santa Fe and Tucumán, the central and eastern areas of Córdoba and the center and north of Entre Ríos.

It will also affect the eastern part of Jujuy, the center of Salta and the southeast of Chaco.

This area will be affected by rains and storms, some strong, which will be accompanied by intense gusts that can reach 90 km/h, strong electrical activity, occasional hail and abundant rainfall in short periods.

Accumulated precipitation values between 40 and 70 mm are estimated, and may be exceeded in a timely manner.

Due to these alerts, the SMN recommended not taking out the garbage, removing objects that prevent water from draining, avoiding outdoor activities, not taking shelter near trees and electricity poles that may fall and not staying on beaches, rivers, lagoons or pools.

For the south of the country, the yellow alert for winds is in force for the entire province of Santa Cruz and the center, south and west of the province of Chubut.

This area will be affected by westerly or southwesterly winds with speeds between 50 and 80 km/h, and gusts that can exceed 100 km/h, especially in the south and west of Santa Cruz.

The meteorological agency recommended avoiding outdoor activities, securing items that can be blown away and staying informed by authorities.
