This marks the end of a career spanning more than fifty years. Alain Chamfort announced his retirement on RTL on Friday, January 12, at the microphone of Steven Bellery. An announcement that comes a few weeks before the release of his 16th album, L'Impermanence, his last. I had the impression that I had concluded on this next album a point of view on the themes we have developed. It's a kind of conclusion, a balance sheet, this album, on different things, on life. I don't think in 10 years I'll have a different point of view. I've gotten to an age where my point of view is made," the singer said.

Elegance

The man who has been able to interpret the texts written by the greatest, including Serge Gainsbourg, with delicacy and elegance, made this decision with profound serenity: "On an artistic journey, I think it's niceto have the final signal at some point. It's an intuition, a natural desire, which I want to respect." And under no circumstances does he want to make "one album too many". Suffering from bone cancer, which he returned to in 2019 after his recovery, the singer says that this episode has nothing to do with his resolution to quit.

Former pianist of Jacques Dutronc, Alain Chamfort, who became a singer in 1972 under the guidance of Claude François, has always favoured his artistic freedom, and can now boast of having been "in tune with the repertoire he has put together". While waiting for the release of his full-length twilight album, fans can get a glimpse of it with a four-song EP as a tasty preamble.
