But this time, it was the longest galette des rois that was presented to the public this Saturday in Aurillac (Cantal). With a length of 57.60 meters, this cake required the work of no less than five bakers in the city center, reports France Bleu Pays d'Auvergne.
Each of the five craftsmen worked for twelve hours to make about twenty cakes. Initially, "only" twelve per baker were to be made, but "we all did a little more to ensure the success," insisted one of the artisans, Quentin Proumen, to the daily La Montagne.
570 broad beans and 200 kg of frangipane
The quantities of this huge galette are impressive since no less than 200 kg of frangipane were slipped inside the cakes, as well as 570 beans.

A commissioner was even present to authenticate the feat of the five craftsmen who made no less than 101 cakes put end to end in order to make it the longest in the world and easily beat the previous record of 50.35 m, held by the municipality of Eschau in the Bas-Rhin and set last year. The town hall of the Cantal prefecture shared a photo of the feat on its social networks.
