From color scheme to underdog, passing through queer or eco-Taliban families. These are some of the words of 2023 of the Treccani Book of the Year, which has just been published. A critical and reasoned guide of the past twelve months, in an extraordinary edition, which has chosen the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella as the person of the year. The book also records the most important events, such as the novelty of the first woman prime minister, Giorgia Meloni and many courageous and committed women such as Katalin Karikó, who dedicated her studies to messenger RNA, thanks to which vaccines against Covid-19 were developed. Or the Iranian activist Narges Mohammadi, imprisoned in Evin prison and sentenced to 31 years in prison and 154 lashes. Both Nobel Prize winners.
