Fruit recall at Edeka: Private label product can cause internal bleeding

Edeka customers are made aware of a product recall. Several fruit products may contain unwanted foreign bodies.

Munich – In various fruit products from German supermarkets, black plastic foreign bodies could be contained in individual packages. Therefore, the manufacturing company Lukowa Food warned against consumption via produktwarnung.eu on Friday (12.01.2024) and launched a product recall.

Product recall at Edeka – there is a risk of internal bleeding

Affected by the recall are frozen soft fruit products of Edeka's own brand and Gut&Billig. The affected items were mainly offered at EDEKA and Marktkauf throughout Germany. The producer had "reacted immediately and immediately removed the corresponding goods from sale". Almost at the same time, there was also a product recall at Kaufland.

Customers can return the affected products without a receipt at checkout to receive a refund. The products are a total of four frozen berry varieties. These include raspberries from the Gut&Billig brand in a 500 gram bag, and the raspberries from Edeka's own brand from a 300 gram box. In addition, cranberry-berry mix in the 300 gram packaging from Edeka, as well as the 500 gram bag of the Gut&Billig berry mix.

According to the manufacturer, products with a different best-before date and batch identification are not affected by the black plastic splinters, which could lead to injuries to the mouth and throat, for example - when consumed, there is a risk of internal bleeding, among other things.
