So if you want to "learn" how to bake cakes, don't start directly with a sophisticated motif cake. Instead, start with a versatile miracle cake. It is sure to succeed and can then be flavoured according to your taste with various additives such as jam, chocolate, fresh fruit and a little whipped cream.

Ingredients for the Fastest Cake Ever

For a cake made from any baking pan:

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup yoghurt
  • 1 cup of oil
  • 4 eggs

Baking with a mug – this is how it works:

By "mug" we don't mean a small espresso cup or a bulbous teacup. It's a simple yoghurt cup. The 150 to 200 gram yoghurt pot is rinsed briefly after emptying and then used uniformly for the dry and wet ingredients. Alternatively, use a regular coffee mug of similar dimensions.

That's how quick and easy it is to bake the Blitz cake

  • While the oven preheats to 180 °C top and bottom heat, first place the yoghurt in a small cereal bowl. Now the empty cup can be rinsed briefly with a little water and used as a unit of measurement. Add the sugar with the eggs to a large mixing bowl and whip both until fluffy.
  • In the next step, stir in the yoghurt and oil. Mix the flour with the baking powder in a separate mixing bowl and sift both into the liquid ingredients. Gently stir in to form a smooth cake batter.
  • Pour the batter into a greased baking pan of your choice and slide the cake in the oven for about 45 to 50 minutes (depending on the height and width of your baking pan) until golden. After the baking time, perform the chopstick test. If the dough still sticks to the wooden stick, put the cake in the oven for another five to ten minutes. Then allow to cool and carefully remove from the tin. Optionally, decorate with powdered sugar or icing. Enjoy your meal!
  • To flavor the regular pound cake a bit, it is recommended to replace a cup of flour with a cup of ground nuts. In addition, chocolate drops, sprinkles, cocoa powder and the like can be stirred in as desired. For a fruity version, for example, simply use some flavored yogurt and frozen berries.
