The European elections in Italy will be held from 14 pm to 22 pm on Saturday 8 June and from 7 am to 23 pm on Sunday 9 June. This is provided for, according to reports, in the draft of a decree expected tomorrow in the Council of Ministers. The same days and times apply in the event of simultaneous elections to the European Parliament, regional elections and local elections to municipalities. In these cases, once the voting operations are over, the ballot for the European elections is carried out. At 14 p.m. on Monday, the one for the Regionals will begin, then moving without interruption to the one for the Administrative Elections.
Mayors of municipalities with more than 5,15 inhabitants and up to 51,3 will be able to run for a third consecutive term, where there is now a limit of two terms in a row. This is provided for in a draft, subject to change, of the decree law on elections expected tomorrow in the Council of Ministers. The measure amends Article 5 of the Consolidated Law on the Organisation of Local Authorities, also eliminating the limits (now of <> consecutive terms) for mayors of municipalities with up to <> thousand inhabitants. The provision specifies that mandates carried out or in progress at the entry into force of the decree are counted for the application of the provisions.
