A 12-year-old girl drowned after submerging herself in a stream in the Cordoba town of Cabalango, in the Punilla Valley. This is a new victim in a list that already adds up to several deaths this summer season in the rivers of the Mediterranean province.

According to the data of the preliminary police summary, the victim was a native of the capital of Cordoba and had moved to the tourist resort of Cabalango with his family to spend Sunday afternoon.

The girl, who was in the spa on the bed of the Los Chorrillos stream, immersed herself in one of the "pools" that characterize the waterways of Cordoba. When a family member noticed that she was not coming to the surface, he called for help and the minor was rescued by a bather, but it was found that she no longer had vital signs.

According to what was reported by the provincial security agency, specialized personnel from the Department of High Risk Units (DUAR) and the Fire Department performed resuscitation maneuvers on the minor but without success.

This summer has been particularly tragic in Cordoba's streams, with several people drowning in the last month.

On December 17, brothers Ramón José Daniel (26) and Silvio Catriel Wagner (19) drowned in the Posta del Remanso beach resort in Nono, in the Traslasierra Valley. Originally from Entre Ríos, the Wagner brothers were in Córdoba for work.

On 29 December, in Mina Clavero, a 34-year-old man who had jumped into the water at the Los Elefantes beach resort to retrieve the flip-flop of one of his daughters that had fallen into the river, was trapped in a natural window formed between the stones and the water and drowned.

A day later, and again in Mina Clavero, there was another fatality.

In this case, it was a 35-year-old man from the Buenos Aires city of Avellaneda who was with his partner at the natural spa Nido del Águila, known for its deep pots. The tourist threw himself into one of them and did not come back to the surface
