The Court of Cassation confirmed "the criminal and civil responsibilities already ascertained for the disaster that occurred in Viareggio on June 29, 2009". This is what emerges from a note released by the Court after the five-hour council chamber.
The Supreme Court, Third Criminal Section, with the operative part of the sentence issued at today's hearing, "in partial acceptance of the appeal of the defendants Schröter Andreas, Kriebel Uwe, Pizzadini Paolo, Gobbi Frattini Daniele, Moretti Mauro, EliaMichele Mario, Kogelheide Rainer, Linowski Peter, Mansbart Johannes, Mayer Roman, Castaldo Mario, Brödel Helmut, annulled the sentence issued by the Court of Appeal of Florence on 30 June 2022, limited to the extent of the reduction of the sentence imposed on these defendants for the general mitigating circumstances, which had been determined in one ninth by the Court of Appeal, with referral, for a new judgment on the point, to another section of the Court of Appeal of Florence".
The Court of Cassation, "rejected the rest of the appeals of the aforementioned defendants, confirming the criminal and civil responsibilities already ascertained for the disaster that occurred in Viareggio on June 29, 2009. It rejected the appeals of Vincenzo Soprano, the civil managers and the civil party Medicina Democratica".
