"Italy will welcome about one hundred Palestinian children suffering from serious complications who, accompanied by their families, will receive health care at some hospitals throughout the country." This was announced in a note by the Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, who yesterday met by videoconference with his French counterpart Sébastien Lecornu.
Speaking about the situation in the Gaza Strip, the two ministers also called on other countries to provide health support to Gaza, as Italy and France have done.
"However, the initiative has not been followed by other countries and this is of great concern also in relation to the fact that the hospital ships of the two countries will soon have to return for logistical and operational reasons".
"Italy is planning to send a military field hospital, and in this sense there have been discussions with Egypt, also given the prohibitive security conditions in the Gaza Strip. Rome and Paris could also work together on this and hope that other countries will also join the initiative, as Qatar did in the case of the Vulcano ship".
