In the "dialogue between the rector and the student representative" there emerged a "disorientation among the young people of our time that is emerging. The student representative said that Generation Z is seen as disoriented, inert, estranged from reality.
I honestly don't know where these evaluations of the new generations, so different from reality, so wrong, can come from. Personally, I think, and I find confirmation, that this generation is a reason for hope for our country." This was underlined by President Sergio Mattarella speaking in Vercelli at the inauguration of the academic year of the University of Eastern Piedmont.
"I am also convinced," President Mattarella said in Vercelli, "that the disorientation that really sometimes emerges is the responsibility of us adults. How could young people feel at ease, find benchmarks or coordinates of behaviour in the world that adults present to them today? So, in this historical moment, the role of universities, of cultural education, of what the rector called the most beautiful profession in the world, that is, that of transmitting culture, knowledge, knowledge, that of making young people protagonists, of making sure that they are capable of critical spirit, masters of knowledge for the future, returns forcefully and must be recalled. This is the vehicle to excite students: it is difficult to find a more meaningful and meaningful expression, 'to excite students', transmitting culture and knowledge to them. This extraordinary task is entrusted to our universities."
