The Chamber of Deputies rejects with a difference of 76 votes the request of the leader of the Democratic Party in the Chamber of Deputies' Justice Committee, Federico Gianassi, to return to the Commission the bill on the statute of limitations now being examined by the Chamber of Montecitorio.
M5S amendment supporting Nordio's thesis rejected
The majority rejects in the Chamber of Montecitorio an amendment presented by the M5S to the bill on the statute of limitations which in fact "incorporates the request of the Minister Keeper of the Seals Carlo Nordio to make the statute of limitations run from the day of registration of the crime report" and no longer from the time of the commission of the fact. To underline the contradiction in the Chamber of Deputies is the leader of the Democratic Party in the Justice Committee Federico Gianassi who also reads, during his speech, the statement issued by Nordio who supported the need for this change. But Undersecretary Andrea Delmastro had given an opinion against the M5S amendment proposal and, despite Gianassi's urging, the center-right's no was confirmed. "The majority and Delmastro - observes Gianassi - have contradicted in this way what the Minister of Justice has publicly declared. It's really surreal."
The Democratic Party's amendment to the Orlando law was rejected
The Chamber of Deputies rejects the Democratic Party's amendment to the bill on the statute of limitations, which in fact re-proposes the Orlando law to which the center-right had said it referred. "Now they have no more excuses - declares the leader of the Democratic Party in the Justice Commission of Montecitorio - their declaration of wanting to return to our reform that preceded that of Bonafede was clearly untrue". "The fact - retorts the rapporteur Andrea Pellicini (FdI) - is that our bill is an improvement on the Orlando law because it also provides that, when the appeal sentence does not intervene in the expected time, this time will still be calculated for the purposes of the statute of limitations". The M5S also voted against the proposed amendment, while the deputy Devis Dori had expressed itself in favor of AVS.
