MoDem MP Sandrine Josso on Tuesday urged the government to tackle the issue of chemical submission "head-on" to "bring out of oblivion" all the victims of this still little-known phenomenon. "This act of society is a scourge that claims thousands of victims," said the Loire-Atlantique lawmaker, who filed a complaint in November against Senator Joël Guerriau, whom she accuses of having drugged her in order to sexually assault him. "From the cradle to the nursing home, from the office to the home, from the nightclub to the evening with friends: everything is in your medicine cabinet," she added, expressing indignation that this subject is not "tackled head-on".

The MEP, whose return to the hemicycle was greeted with a round of applause, urged the executive to "put the means" in place to "better understand this phenomenon and finally find a way to bring all the victims out of oblivion". Believing that this issue deserved "a mobilization of the whole of society", the Minister Delegate in charge of Equality between Women and Men, Aurore Bergé, acknowledged that it was necessary to "go further (...) to better support victims."
