Animal oracles provide the necessary dose of humor when sporting events are coming up.
This year, Pig Eberhard will predict the European Handball Championships.
But how smart are the animals actually?
The pig, a boar with the illustrious name Eberhard, is currently attracting animal attention.
The reason?
He is considered the oracle of the upcoming European Handball Championship in Cologne.
In this context, he should be able to decide on success and failure for the German games - no, he should even be able to predict them in advance, as
t-online
reports with reference to relevant press releases.

How does Pig Eberhard predict the game results?
Pig Eberhard is a three-year-old Swabian-Hallian pig and calls the Clemenshof in Cologne Zoo his home.
The now prominent boar weighs an impressive 300 kilograms and shares his life with the “beautiful sow Uschi,” as
t-online
writes.
The boar decides whether the German handball team will win by choosing one of three food balls.
Each ball represents a possible outcome of the game: Germany as the winner, a draw between the teams or a victory for the opposing team.
Pigs bring good luck, they say.
Only Eber Eberhard knows whether this also applies to the European Handball Championships.

Pig Oracle: But how intelligent are the animals really?
The discussion about the intelligence of pigs has long and repeatedly stirred scientific minds.
Because pigs are among the most intelligent mammals.
Here you can see a pig slamming the door in an insult because he can't get any ice cubes.
To give you an overview of pig intelligence, here is a list of exciting facts that you may not have known:
Pigs are individuals with different character traits.
Extroverts, bored people, shy people, know-it-alls – all these traits are said to exist among the bristle animals.
Depending on the environment in which the animals grow up, they develop different personalities.
Pigs have varied friendships.
If two animals like each other, they play with each other and tell each other where the best grass grows.
Pigs can feel compassion.
If an animal is happy or desperate, its fellow animals also feel it.
It is also assumed that pigs can sense and mirror human emotions.
Pigs have excellent long-term memories and, among other things, remember when they have been treated badly.
They are also highly likely to recognize human faces.
Pigs have an ego consciousness and listen to their names, for example.
Pigs trick each other, for example to get food more quickly.
Experts believe that pigs can learn more commands than dogs.
Pigs have their own language with around 20 different oink sounds (which have been researched so far).
When pigs grunt, they want to say something.
Additionally, grunting, like personality, is unique to each pig.
Pigs have a sense of hygiene: the animals strictly separate between sleeping and eating places and the toilet.
Pigs can learn tricks, such as retrieving.
Pigs massage each other as a positive social interaction.
When it gets cold outside, the pigs huddle close together to keep each other warm.
There are animals among pigs that have a mediating role in the event of disputes.
These are preferably relatives of the fighting pigs.
The mediators intervene, separate the disputers from each other, touch them and in this way calm them down.
When two pigs reconcile, they press their noses together, rest their heads on the other person or simply lie close to each other.
Pigs can use tools.
At the end of the 1990s, a Danish farmer had his pigs help out in the stable: using a joystick, the animals controlled the ventilation and the temperature in the stable themselves.
