Walter Iván Raimann, Gabriel's nephew, disappeared in August when the boat in which he had gone fishing overturned. He was found dead five days later.

Almost five months ago, the Raimanns were stationed on the banks of the Uruguay River waiting for a miracle.

They are experiencing the same drama now in Pinamar, while they wait for news from the rescuers looking for Gabriel Raimann (38), who disappeared on Sunday with Ramón Román (56) when they went into the sea to share a day of fishing in a kayak.

At the end of August last year,

Walter Iván Raimann (29)

went fishing with two friends in the Uruguay River, near the town of Panambí, in Misiones.

On Sunday the 27th, the three had embarked in a canoe to go out in search of dorado and bogas that abound in the area.

The three fishermen were returning late at night when, for unknown reasons,

the boat overturned and its occupants ended up in the water

.

Raimann's friends were able to swim to the coast and ask the riverside residents for help, but

Walter was swept away by the river current

.

Survivors said they managed to throw him a life jacket, but quickly lost visual contact due to the darkness.

The search tasks for the young man - Gabriel Raimann's nephew - were carried out by the Naval Prefecture, which assigned a team of divers to search the river in the area where the boat sank.

After five days of searching the river, a river patrol from the Prefecture

found Raimann's body about six kilometers downstream

, in an area known as El Doradito.

The body was rescued under heavy rain and a few days later the forensic team determined that the young fisherman drowned.

Walter Iván Raimann, nephew of the fisherman who disappeared in Pinamar, drowned in the Uruguay River at the end of last August.

Now the Raimanns have to relive the same anguish they felt almost five months ago, when they clung to the possibility of a miracle that ultimately did not occur.

This Thursday it emerged that on Tuesday a pilot flying over the sea took photos of an object similar to a kayak that was drifting.

“A man has a small plane at the Santa Teresita Aeroclub, he always goes out for a ride in the morning, and at one of those moments he notifies the Naval Prefecture that they found a kayak 110 kilometers away.

They said they passed by and didn't find anything, but he took photos and we suspect it may be a kayak.

With everything he was telling us, it is a kayak,” José Román explained to Clarín.

From the Naval Prefecture they indicated that that same day a coast guard went to that place to check the information but they found no traces of the supposed vessel.

The searches by air, sea and land are led by the Undersecretary of Emergencies of the Buenos Aires Government, the Naval Prefecture, the Argentine Navy and the municipalities of Pinamar and the Partido de La Costa.

They have not yet yielded positive results.

In the last hours, Uruguay joined the operation, because it was considered necessary to expand the surveillance zone.

Gabriel Raimann and Ramón Román disappeared in Pinamar when they went into the sea to fish.

The search operation involves a B-200 aircraft of the Argentine Navy, a helicopter, a coast guard vessel, 10 semi-rigid boats and jet skis, along with 29 trucks on the ground, 8 UTVs and drones.

In addition, a PA-73 Prefecture plane was added, sent from Mar del Plata.

Ramón and Gabriel entered the sea on Sunday around 6:30 through the nautical descent of Valeria del Mar, in an orange motorized kayak.

They had oars and a life jacket.

His black Hilux truck was left there.

On Monday morning, neighbors who saw the vehicle parked all night notified the authorities and the search was activated.
