"Basilicata is well governed by Bardi: there is a good government, he is a respectable person, therefore he deserves to continue to govern. I exclude a step backwards, we need to work together".

This was stated by the deputy prime minister and foreign minister, Antonio Tajani, on Radio24.

"It's premature to talk about the lists for the European elections: we're in January and we're voting in June. It's not a scandal if the leaders run to attract votes - Tajani then said -. Voters know that they won't then go and become European parliamentarians We are waiting to decide at the mid-February Congress in Rome on the 23rd and 24th when Forza Italia will elect its secretary. I am a candidate."

"Berlusconi is unrepeatable for his genius, political strength, electoral strength. His heir does not exist, I am not his heir. The heirs are all the voters of Forza Italia", added the Foreign Minister.

As regards the Middle East, Antonio Tajani, again speaking on Radio24, stated that "the over 1,000 Italian soldiers in Lebanon are there for a UN mission. If Gaza, in a transition phase, is needed, a mission of peace, we are ready to send our soldiers with the UN as bearers of peace. There is no American request to expand the Lebanese mission in this regard".
