Kate Middleton was hospitalized at the London Clinic on Tuesday for “scheduled” surgery.
“Her Royal Highness, The Princess of Wales, was admitted yesterday for elective abdominal surgery,” read the press release released Wednesday January 17 by Kensington Palace.
If the operation was "successful", Prince William's wife must remain in the establishment for 10 to 14 days, before continuing her convalescence at home, in her home at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor.
That being said, Kate is not expected to make a public appearance until Easter.
An unprecedented absence.

The Middletons to the rescue
Since then, we have learned that Prince William is suspending his official duties to be closer to his family, as long as his wife is in the hospital and recovering.
As
The Sun
writes , "at home, William will look after the children, but of course he will be assisted by the children's Spanish nanny, Maria Borrallo, who has always been there for them."
Kate will also be able to count on her family, her parents Carole and Michael, as well as her sister Pippa and her brother James, to whom she is known to be very close.
According to the
Daily Mail
, the Middleton clan has also reviewed its entire schedule to be as close as possible to Wales and prepare for Kate's return to Windsor.
“They are already mobilizing and will help him recover in his house in Windsor, close to their own home,” specifies the tabloid.

“Serious state of health”
No indication has been provided on the reasons for this hospitalization but, according to several British media, Kate does not suffer from cancer.
On the other hand, her state of health “is serious enough to keep her in hospital for up to two weeks and her convalescence is expected to take two to three months,” observes the BBC.
“It is clear from the length of time Catherine is expected to remain in hospital and the tone of the statement issued by the Palace that her condition is serious.”
