Persian cat Dagny becomes a guardian angel for a senior citizen

It was early in the evening when Ådahl noticed the unusual behavior of her cat Dagny: the cat sat in front of the apartment door and meowed for hours.

Ådahl, becoming curious, looked through the peephole, but could not see anyone in the stairwell or hear any noises.

But Dagny continued to meow loudly.

When she still didn't stop around 11 p.m., Ådahl opened the door to check.

Dagny took advantage of the moment and immediately ran into the hallway of the apartment building and to the neighbor's door.

Ådahl chased Dagny and saw her scratching the door of the neighboring apartment.

She admits to the Swedish magazine

Aftonbladet

that she was initially annoyed by Dagny and feared that she would have to pay for the scratched door.

As she wanted to hold Dagny in her arms, she suddenly heard a noise from the apartment.

Faint cries for help came through the mail slot.

Startled, Ådahl realized the seriousness of the situation.

She immediately informed a neighbor who she knew had a key to the apartment of the elderly woman in her 90s.

Together they found the woman lying on the kitchen floor with serious injuries to her head.

Ådahl, a trained nurse, looked after the neighbor until the emergency doctor arrived.

The doctor determined that the elderly lady would probably not have survived much longer due to the high blood loss.

Thanks to the alarm cat Dagny, the rescued neighbor is now in good health.

As a reward, the elderly lady's daughter brought cat food for Dagny.

According to reports, the helping cat now makes a “check-up” to the neighbor’s apartment every evening.
