Confindustria's detailed process for the election of the new president begins on February 1st, with the appointment of the commission of 'wise men'.
The crucial date will be April 4th when, in the general council in via dell'Astronomia, the industrialists will vote for the designation of the next leader.
From that moment there will be only one name who will carry forward the path planned for the election, presenting the program and presidential team (on 18 April), and arriving at the assembly vote on 23 May.
That will be the day of the handover, at the end of Carlo Bonomi's four-year mandate which is not immediately renewable by statute.
In the rules of Confindustria, a basis of consensus is needed, demonstrable, in writing, already to be able to present one's candidacy to the designation commission, the 'three wise men', in the first week of its installation (at least 10% of the votes represented in the assembly or members of the general council) or at the end of the consultations to be admitted by right to the next phase and therefore arrive at the designation vote (at least 20% of the votes represented in the assembly).
The three wise men will receive any nominations and will be able to bring out others from the "widest consultation" - this is the task assigned to them by the statute - of the presidents of all the branches of the representation system and the other members of the general council.
Only at the end of the consultations, weighing the consensus, will the commission identify one or more candidates and invite them to illustrate the program in front of the general council at least two weeks before the vote which, on 4 April, by secret ballot, will designate the name that will be brought to the assembly vote on May 23rd.
