Kassel – Since November 1, 2023, Lotto Germany has revised the rules for the “6aus49” game of chance, and there is an exciting innovation.
Although the chance of winning for six numbers plus the super number at “6 out of 49” is still one in 139.8 million, the possible maximum jackpot that can be achieved has increased significantly.

The “6aus49” jackpot was previously limited to a winning amount of 45 million euros, but since the drawing on November 1, 2023, it can now increase to 50 million euros – an increase of 11.11 percent.
According to a survey, 20.08 million of all Germans over the age of 18 play the lottery occasionally and 6.57 million play the lottery regularly.

New rules for the “6 out of 49” lottery: German hits record jackpot
The new regulation for the “6aus49” lottery stipulates that as long as the maximum jackpot exists, the further theoretical increases are collected in the pot for the next jackpot.
The remaining sums will be allocated to the new jackpot until the 50 million euro jackpot is won.
The new rules for Lotto “6aus49” and “Spiel 77” at a glance:
The jackpot for the “6aus49” lottery can grow to a maximum of 50 million euros (previously 45 million euros).
At “Game 77” the jackpot cap is ten million euros
If the maximum jackpot has been reached, it will only be paid out if a lottery player has guessed six correct numbers plus a super number for “6 out of 49”. For “Game 77”, the correct seven-digit winning number is required
If the maximum jackpot remains, new amounts accumulate every game round without a jackpot winner, which would actually cause the jackpot to continue to increase.
The resulting total amount is added to prize category 1 in the first draw after the jackpot has been won by one or more players - and thus increases the new jackpot
At the beginning of 2024, the jackpot rose above 45 million euros for the first time, to a total of 48,580,715.30 euros.
Sixteen draws in a row in Germany, no participant was able to correctly guess the six winning numbers plus the required super number in the classic lottery.
The big surprise came on January 3, 2024.
A lottery player from Bavaria was probably amazed when he looked at the lottery numbers and compared the winning numbers with his lottery ticket.
No wonder, he had just won the highest jackpot in the history of the German lottery.
Of course, this cannot be compared with a view across the pond.

The end of the year could hardly have gone better for a lucky lottery winner from Hesse, who won a record win in the Eurojackpot.
Gambling originated in Germany over 60 years ago.
The first lottery numbers were drawn in Hamburg on October 9, 1955 at 4 p.m.
Since then, the jackpot has only reached the maximum winnings of 45 million euros six times - for the first time in 2007. At that time, three participants shared the winnings.
On April 13, 2022, a participant from Hesse secured the highest individual prize of around 45 million euros in the “6aus49” lottery.
Another player in Hamburg repeated this result last year on April 1, 2023.

According to a survey by the Allensbach Institute for Demoscopy (IfD), 9.4 percent of people across Germany play the lottery regularly and 28.7 percent at least occasionally.
In Germany, the lottery winning numbers are drawn every Wednesday at 6:25 p.m. and Saturdays at 7:25 p.m., which corresponds to around 104 draws per year.
In 2021, 181 new lottery millionaires were recorded in Germany, compared to 145 in 2020, according to the German Lotto and Totoblock (DLTB).
Most of the millions in winnings came from the federal states of Baden-Württemberg (39), North Rhine-Westphalia (35) and Lower Saxony (26).
In August 2023, a 36-year-old from Hamburg won the exorbitant sum of 117 million euros in the Europe-wide lottery Euro-Jackpot.
