And do I earn more than average?
The 2024 salary report answers these questions.
Salary is rarely discussed, but employees increasingly want transparency in this area.
As a recent study by the digital recruiting platform
Stepstone
among 5,700 people in Germany showed, nine out of ten respondents would be more likely to apply for a job if their future income was disclosed from the start.
And six out of ten even refrain from applying if information about their salary is missing.
The 2024 salary report from Stepstone also shows how much is actually earned in different professional groups.
Salary report 2024: Doctors are the top earners
At the top of the list of top-paying jobs are doctors with a gross median salary of 94,750 euros per year.
This professional group has been leading the Stepstone salary report for several years now.
Experts in banking, finance and insurance are a little behind with 57,000 euros per year.
In third place among top earners are engineers (56,000 euros).

According to the Stepstone
salary report 2024, employees in wholesale and retail and employees in the hospitality industry
earn the least .
The gross median salary is 35,750 euros and 35,500 euros respectively.

Top 3 industries that offer the highest salaries
Broken down by industry, it is banking where employees can hope for the highest salaries.
The gross median salary is 63,250 euros per year.
This is followed by the aerospace industry and the pharmaceutical industry.

According to the salary report, Germans earn a median of 43,750 euros per year.
