"De Fusco is not a man of the right", for his appointment as general director of the Teatro di Roma "a meritorious choice was made".

This was said by the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, guest of Zona Bianca on Rete4.

"De Fusco - underlines the minister in response to a question from Giuseppe Brindisi on the controversies of these hours - has great experience. And when he was young he had political militancy with the socialist party. He is not right-wing, he is an expert", reiterates Sangiuliano, convinced that it is necessary to "allow those who are not part of the pre-Lavent Roman circles to be able to express themselves in the cultural sphere".

For the choice of the new director of the Teatro di Roma, recalls Sangiuliano, "an external commission was appointed which made a manifestation of intent, invited experts in the sector to participate, to apply for the directorship. The commission chose three profiles: within the board of directors, where I am represented by only one member, I am not the dominus, the most meritorious and adherent profile has been chosen. Luca De Fusco has decades of experience in the world of theatres, he has had important directions from administrations of different colours, he has great experience".

Sangiuliano also remembers having "met De Fusco only once, with Brugnaro at the Fenice, during rehearsals for a show directed by him: I shook his hand and then I never saw him again".
