Lab-grown meat represents "a threat" to the "genuine food production methods that are at the heart of the European agricultural model".
Italy, France and Austria write this in a joint note sent to the EU and supported by 9 other countries, which will be undiscussed tomorrow at the Agriculture Council in Brussels.
Rome, Paris and Vienna warn of "new practices" that "include meat production with stem cell technology, which requires tissue from live animals".
"The development of this new production of laboratory-grown foods raises many questions that need to be discussed thoroughly."
