EU High Representative Josep Borrell warned that this year's elections around the world will be a "primary target" for countries like Russia seeking to spread disinformation and undermine democracy, and that 2024 "will be a crucial year to fight" foreign manipulation.
Borrell took part in the conference on disinformation in Brussels.
"Russia and other countries are testing disinformation methods in some countries and if they work then they are used elsewhere," he said.
“We must fight an industry that produces lies 24 hours a day without stopping.”
