Eating eggs for breakfast is a completely normal thing.
But are eggs also suitable for dogs?
There are a few things to consider when considering this question.
Eggs contain a lot of protein, important minerals such as iron, calcium or zinc and also vitamins A, D, E and K. But can four-legged gourmets also snack on eggs without hesitation?
Good for people – good for dogs?
This principle is not always true.
Because there are many foods for humans that are toxic to dogs.
But in the case of eggs, the sentence is actually correct.
Eggs are absolutely safe for dogs – as long as they are not spoiled.
In certain cases, however, you should consult your veterinarian first to be on the safe side.
For example, if your dog has previous illnesses or problems with his digestion.

Eggs for dogs – they really are that healthy

Boiled:
You can safely feed soft- or hard-boiled eggs.
This is the fastest and safest option.
Scrambled eggs:
Scrambled eggs are also okay for four-legged friends - but without milk, salt or butter.
Too much salt is unhealthy for dogs and dairy products can give them stomach problems.
Baked:
You can also cook the eggs for your dog in the oven - but like scrambled eggs, without any additives.
Poached:
Dogs can also eat poached eggs without hesitation.
However, caution is advised with raw eggs.
It is extremely important here that the eggs are fresh and have been stored well.
And even then, you should only feed the egg yolk - raw egg whites, on the other hand, are better not to end up in the food bowl.
Fried eggs are also not recommended because they are too greasy.

How often can dogs eat eggs?
Just like with people, the golden rule applies to dogs: everything in moderation!
Therefore, eggs should not become a daily habit for your four-legged friend.
Small dogs should not eat more than one egg per week, for larger dogs it can be two to three per week.
Also remember that eggs are relatively rich in nutrients.
In order not to exceed your furry friend's daily calorie requirements, you should limit other treats when feeding eggs.
Can dogs be allergic to eggs?
In general, dogs can be allergic to a wide variety of foods - this also applies to eggs.
Some breeds are more prone to allergies than others - these include Cocker Spaniels, Labrador Retrievers and West Highland White Terriers.
The typical signs of an allergic reaction are:
Diarrhea
Vomit
swelling
Itchy skin
Gasp
If your dog shows these or similar reactions after eating eggs, it is best to contact your veterinarian immediately.
