There is a storm at a conference organized by the "Machiavelli" Political and Strategic Studies Center - on abortion and euthanasia - hosted in the Chamber at the invitation of the Northern League member Simone Billi.
According to the accusations of the opposition, in fact, the theses put forward by the speakers were "from the Middle Ages" and they also spoke of the "sunset of values" denying that Abortion is a right. "After Pillon comes Billi. On the right the faces change but not the programmes: the propaganda against women's rights and the aberrant statements do not stop", writes Democratic Party senator Ylenia Zscopio on X.
While the dem group leader in Montecitorio, Chiara Braga, says: "We will not allow you to make Italy a country of the Middle Ages and of civil and human barbarism. Abortion is a right also for your companions, even for your daughters".
Strong criticism also from Iv with Paita and Scalfarotto, ready to build barricades in defense of the law.
Elisabetta Piccolotti of Avs speaks of "aberration": "we are faced with movements that theorize that the father is the master of a woman's body and life. We can only imagine what would happen if rules inspired by these principles were written".

For his part, Simone Billi, called into question, insists: "What came out today in some of the press does not represent mine, much less, the party's position.
The League has always fought for the freedom of expression of women and what is reported is false", he underlines.
"Personally I believe in freedom of choice and, above all, women who are victims of violence cannot be exploited. I - she finally clarified - was not present at the conference and, if I had been present, I would certainly have advanced my theses".
