PARIS - The French Constitutional Council today largely rejected the French government's immigration bill, canceling several restrictive measures whose inclusion had been obtained by the right.
The "Wise Men" censored over a third of the articles, 32 of which were judged to lack a sufficient connection with the text.
Among these, the tightening of access to social benefits for foreigners and family reunification.
Another 3 articles were partially or totally censored in their substance, including the establishment of migration quotas set by Parliament.
Among the articles judged to lack a sufficient connection with the text there is also the "caution" on the return to homeland for foreign students.
