Green light from the Council of Ministers to the bill on transparency in charity with stringent rules and sanctions also for influencers.
The provision regarding charity passed in the CDM "complies with the principles of transparency and ensures clear and non-misleading information" when products are advertised and sold for charitable purposes", said the Minister for Business and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso.
The bill is "made up of 4 articles" and regulates "the obligation to report on the packages, also through stickers, some specific information including the total amount allocated to charity, or the percentage value on the price of each individual product", has Urso explained.
The objective is that "the consumer knows with certainty which part of the proceeds goes to solidarity initiatives".
It is also established that subjects, both producers of goods and professionals, must "communicate to the Antitrust that they intend to activate this promotional activity and the deadline within which the payment of the amount has been made".
In case of violation of obligations, it is envisaged that the authority can sanction with fines ranging from 5 thousand to 50 thousand euros and that 50% of the proceeds of any sanctions will be used for solidarity initiatives" which will be established with a subsequent decree.
