Second consecutive victory for Genoa who with Retegui and Ekuban overcame Krstovic's initial lead in the second half to beat Lecce and achieve the seventh consecutive useful result.
A match full of emotions with a penalty saved by Martinez from Krstovic and two woodwork hit by home players Malinovskyi and Vasquez.
High pace from the first minutes
on an almost spring day with Genoa and Lecce who in mid-table can play it openly without too many worries.
The result is an entertaining match with constant changes of direction marked by a heartfelt tribute to Gigi Riva at the starting whistle and in the memory of Vincenzo Claudio Spagnolo, the Genoa fan who was killed before Genoa - Milan on 29 January 1995. Lecce, deployed with the usual 4-3-3, immediately aggressive and Martinez risks missing a raise after just a few minutes but Spence recovers from Almqvist.
Retegui tries twice but first the ball is out, then Falcone blocks.
In the 16th minute Almqvist passes Vasquez in the area who knocks him down.
He takes a penalty that beats Krstovic and that Martinez rejects.
Genoa responds with Bani, a high header, but struggles against a Lecce team who are well placed on the pitch who often have the upper hand in midfield and who find the advantage in the 31st minute.

Ball in the net and Lecce ahead.
The advantage was legitimized by a free kick from Ramadani which Martinez managed to repel shortly afterwards.
And in the 37th minute a double opportunity for the guests first with Almqvist, Martinez again super, then with Kaba who shoots wide from a good position.

Gilardino introduced Sabelli and Ekuban at half-time, moving from 3-5-2 to 4-3-1-2 with Gudmundsson behind Retegui and Ekuban.
The move proved to be a winning one with the rossoblù immediately putting Lecce on the ropes and in the 2nd minute they hit the post with Malinovskyi, on the rebound Vasquez without fail found Falcone ready to rebound.
Martinez responds by saving on Samson.
Then it's just Genoa.
Vasquez and Gudmundsson try without too much luck but the Icelandic in the 25th minute from a free kick, a foul on Ekuban, hits the crossbar, the ball bounces off the line and the fastest is Retegui who heads it back to score.
Encouraged by the draw and Ferraris' 32,000, the hosts aimed for a shot and got it in the 31st minute with Ekuban: Vasquez concluded diagonally hitting the crossbar, Retegui headed the ball back into the middle for Ekuban who beat the Lecce goalkeeper with a bicycle kick.
Genoa controls and in the end celebrates with the stadium dedicating a chant to Gilardino, the protagonist with his moves like the two goalscorers.
