With a phone call yesterday between the Ministry of Culture, the municipality of Rome and the Lazio region, the difficult situation that had arisen at the Teatro di Roma following the appointment of Luca De Fusco as general director was resolved.
The appointment took place last Saturday in a board of directors meeting that the president of the Foundation, Francesco Siciliano, had defined as ''not valid according to the statute''.
After days of political conflict and controversy, the situation should find a solution at the next Board of Directors meeting scheduled, as far as we know, for January 30th.
On that occasion there should be a double nomination, i.e. De Fusco should remain as artistic director of the Argentina Theatre, the India Theatre, the Torlonia and the Valle when it becomes usable again.
While the managerial role - which in the first contested appointment was always unified under the leadership of De Fusco - of general manager would go to Onofrio Cutaia.
Cutaia is about to end his mandate as extraordinary commissioner at Maggio Fiorentino, where - according to the plans attributed to Mic - the former AdRai, Carlo Fuortes, could arrive.
To contemplate this double figure, however, a modification to the statute is needed, the region would have already approved it while for the municipality the times would be longer because the old statute had been approved in the chamber and a similar procedure would have to be followed.
"We are moving towards a shared solution on the Theater of Rome, as we have always hoped. President Rocca's council has always referred to and has always practiced the principles of correct institutional collaboration and the priority of the city's interests over sterile controversies. We have always reiterated the importance of pluralism, of the full representation of all sensitivities, of our total willingness to balance all institutional levels in a spirit of cohesion and collaboration. We are finally close to finding the square", said Simona Baldassarre, Councilor for Culture of the Lazio Region.
