While waiting for Girona to take the field tomorrow away against Celta Vigo, the two greats of Spain today played their respective matches for the 22nd matchday of the La Liga.
The smile was, once again, on Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid, which won 2-1 on the Las Palmas pitch, while Barcelona fell at home, losing 5-3 to Villarreal, with the two goals of the victory for the SottomarinoGiallo coming in the minute 98 and then at 10O'.
On Canarian soil the first half ended goalless between the home team and Real, then Munoz broke the deadlock in the 8th minute of the second half.
But Madrid, first with a splendid play by Vinicius on an equally beautiful assist from Camavinga and then with a header by Tchouameni from a corner 6' from the end, turned the situation around by taking three points which temporarily puts them back in command of the standings, with 54 points against Girona's 52.
At Montjuic we saw a crazy match between Barça and Villarreal.
Down 2-0 (the excellent Gerard Moreno still scored for the guests), Napoli's next opponents in the Champions League cameback and in 11 minutes, scoring three times, with Gundogan and Pedri and an own goal from Bailly, they took the lead to 3- 2, only to be restarted 6' from the end with Guedes scoring on an assist from Sorloth.
When the match seemed to be heading towards a draw, in the maximal recovery they scored first with Sorloth and then, with the most classic of counterattacks, with Morales for Villarreal's huge win.
For Barça, third in the standings with 44 points, with the five today they have conceded 9 goals in the last two matches: I'm taking Mazzarri into account.
