"The New Look" is the new historical dramedy by Todd A. Kessler, starring Emmy winner Ben Mendelsohn in the role of Christian Dior and Oscar winner Juliette Binoche in the role of Coco Chanel.
Inspired by real events and shot entirely in Paris, it tells the life and career of Christian Dior, Coco Chanel and their contemporary stylists who faced the horrors of the Second World War and launched modern fashion.
The 10-episode series will debut on Apple TV+ on February 14 with the first three episodes, followed by an episode every Wednesday through April 3.
Set during the Nazi occupation of Paris during the Second World War, "The New Look" focuses on one of the most crucial moments of the 20th century, when the French capital brought the world back to life thanks to a fashion icon: Christian Dior.
As Dior rises to prominence with its revolutionary and iconic mark of beauty and influence, CocoChanel's primacy as the world's most famous designer is challenged.
The saga interweaves the surprising stories of Dior's contemporaries and antagonists: from Grand Dame Coco Chanel to Pierre Balmain, Cristóbal Balenciaga and more, and offers an extraordinary insight into the atelier, designs and clothes created by Christian Dior thanks to the collaboration with the House of Dior.
In addition to Mendelsohn and Binoche, the cast also includes Maisie Williams, in the role of Catherine Dior;
John Malkovich, in the role of Lucien Lelong;
Emily Mortimer, as Elsa Lombardi; Claes Bang, as Spatz and Glenn Close as CarmelSnow.
The series' engaging and contemporary soundtrack is curated and produced by Grammy Award winner Jack Antonoff and features covers of songs from the early and mid-20th century performed by artists such as Bleachers, Florence Welch, Lana DelRey, Matty Healy (The 1975) , Beabadoobee, Nick Cave, PerfumeGenius and others.
