A huge
cargo ship flying the
Liberian
flag
collided this Sunday afternoon against the first pillar of the
Zárate Brazo Largo bridge
and navigation at kilometer 171 of the
Paraná River
was interrupted due to the collision .
According to authorities, the ship
was unloaded
at the time of the crash and the cause would have been
damage to its rudder
.
"We have an empty goods transport ship that
was heading to the port of San Lorenzo
, it lost control due to a broken rudder and rubbed against one of the columns on the coast, without causing any major danger," said Emiliano Riberas, head of the Zárate Emergency and Climate Change Coordination Directorate.
The arrival of two tugboats
was awaited
to free the waterway.
In addition, vehicular traffic on the Zárate Brazo Largo bridge was not interrupted.
"There were no explosions, it was simply
the impact against the column
. Moments before reaching the bridge, the ship grazed a column and suffered a
crack on its right side
," added Riberas, who assured that the ship does not present a risk of sinking.
The ship that crashed into the Zárate Brazo Largo bridge has the Liberian flag.
