"What did Mattarella say?": Franca Caffa was in the front row among the Pro Palestine demonstrators who attempted to march in Milan on Saturday and were blocked in Via Padova.
And the ninety-four-year-old former municipal councilor of the PRC, founder of the Molise-Calvairate-Ponti tenants' committee, asked the question to one of the carabinieri in riot gear, and was taken aback by the answer, as can be seen in a video published by some media.
"With all due respect, ma'am, he is not my president" is the soldier's response which can be seen from the videos of the day.
"What country is he from?"
Caffa then asks, to which the carabiniere replies: "I didn't vote for him, I didn't choose him, I don't recognize him".
The general command of the force has made it known that it will arrange for the immediate transfer
of the carabiniere.
The force, which also informed the ordinary and military judicial authorities of the episode - which emerged in a video - will order the immediate transfer of the soldier to a non-operational position.
Furthermore, according to the Army, all necessary measures will be promptly adopted, including those of a disciplinary nature.
