"This year - he highlighted - the meeting takes on an even more significant value because it follows by a few hours the 'Italy-Africa International Summit - A Bridge for common growth' hosted by the government and in which the most important leaders of the European Union participated, of the African countries and the main international organizations dealing with development. An event which, rightly, can be considered 'a milestone' along the path of close cooperation that our country has decided to start with Africa, to jointly promote the growth and economic development of the continent and thus build a valid, structural and long-term alternative to the dramatic phenomenon of mass migration, in line with the so-called 'Rome process' launched in July last year. At the center of this strategic and inclusive geopolitical approach which aims to guarantee stability and security in the Mediterranean basin by bringing it back to its natural political and economic center of gravity, there is the Mattei Plan.
An instrument strongly supported by the President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloniche, in my opinion, it testifies to the desire for a change of perspective in the history of relations with the African continent".
