The government, as expected, places its confidence in the Energy bill under consideration in the Senate.
The Minister for Relations with Parliament Luca Ciriani asked this in the Palazzo Madama Chamber at the opening of the session.
The measure, approved by the Chamber on January 26, also provides for rules on reconstruction in the territories affected by recent exceptional floods.
What does the energy bill provide?
Geothermal energy, subsidies for renewables, nuclear.
The energy decree approved in the first reading in the Chamber with 184 yes and 83 no votes is structured.
Here is a summary of the main measures of the measure
Renewables:
the contribution due from the owners of the plant for production disappears and an auction mechanism is envisaged to incentivize them with the stipulation of multi-year two-way contracts for difference between the GSE and the selected operators and the possibility of participating in the auctions for incentives also for all photovoltaic systems in agricultural areas.
Wind power:
the legislative decree extends the possibility of identifying ports where platforms for floating wind power can be built to the entire national territory.
The rule also concerns the areas that border the phaseout areas from coal, i.e. Civitavecchia.
Nuclear:
the decree gives more time (90 days) to local authorities to submit a self-nomination to Sogin to host the national radioactive waste repository.
Waste:
the president of the Sicilian Region, Renato Schifani, is appointed extraordinary commissioner for waste management.
A budget of 800 million is expected.
Geothermal energy:
the decree allows the cultivation of geothermal resources for geothermal electric use even in termalis areas, while guaranteeing the maintenance of the characteristics of the water.
Compensation:
Tuscan agriculture and companies affected by floods in 2023, in addition to compensation measures for damage suffered by particularly high-quality agri-food products, will be able to access the Solidarity Fund in agriculture.
Call centre: call center workers who operate in the management of greater protection activities for electricity at risk with the end of the transition to the free market will be stabilised.
