Anyone who is entitled receives their pension regularly in Germany.

But it is not always the same amount.

Pensioners have to accept differences.

Hamm – Inflation, rising prices in the catering industry, fuel prices and many other things concern people in Germany.

Looking at your own account can sometimes put you in a bad mood.

Of course, pensioners also keep a close eye on their finances - and may ask themselves whether they receive more or less pension than average,

A table helps to find the answer.

Pensions vary on average

The figures provided by the German Pension Insurance in the current pension atlas are not entirely up to date.

But for a rough overview and a classification of your own pension, the figures for statutory gross salaries in the pension portfolio at the end of 2022 are definitely sufficient.

The average gross pension is therefore 1,550 euros.

The respective amount for each individual can be calculated using the pension formula.

On average, there are sometimes significant differences between the individual federal states:

Second highest pensions on average in NRW

In Thuringia, pensions were at their lowest on average at this time.

1,427 euros is the average gross amount of old-age pensions after at least 35 years of insurance.

Saarland has the highest value at 1,677 euros.

North Rhine-Westphalia ranks just behind with 1,644 euros.

The difference is also clear between the genders.

On average, men receive 1,728 euros in gross pension per month, women 1,316 euros.

Pensions have increased in Germany

The numbers may now look a little different.

The pensions were last increased in July 2023.

A year later, i.e. now in July 2024, they are supposed to increase again - but then the increase will probably be slightly smaller.

Meanwhile, the leap year in February 2024, which brings many changes, logically means that the pension will be paid out later.

Anyone who is currently short of money will have to bridge a longer period of time - especially those who are below the average.
