MagentaTV customers will have to do without six TV channels in the future.
The slots that have become available remain temporarily without a program.
Munich – In times of streaming and social media, linear television is becoming increasingly less important.
If you don't have your smartphone in your hand to browse TikTok, providers like Netflix, Prime Video or Disney+ are used for entertainment.
Another provider is MagentaTV, which combines television and streaming in its media library.
He switched off six TV channels on Monday, January 29th.
Several million customers may be affected.
Six TV channels were switched off: what does that mean for viewers?
As Telekom reports, these are the RTL+ live channels, which occupy slots 40 to 45 while maintaining the standard sorting.
In the future, MagentaTV customers will no longer be able to receive the channels RTL+ Live 1, RTL+ Live 2, RTL+ Live 3, RTL+ Live 4, RTL+ Live 5 and RTL+ Live 6.
Before the shutdown, those affected received a notification via the media receiver or the MagentaTV app that the RTL channels would soon no longer be available.
Six RTL channels were switched off in January 2024.

Over four million viewers are said to be affected by the station shutdown.
However, the number refers to current MagentaTV customers who generally take advantage of the provider's offerings.
RTL channel switched off?
That is the alternative
Upon request, Telekom points out that the content of the switched off channels will only “move over” to the RTL+ app.
This means that MagentaTV customers can continue to receive RTL channels via the app - but only with MagentaTV One or the MagentaTV Stick.
It is not possible to use the app via the “Media Receiver 400 and 200”.
It is currently unclear whether the vacant slots 40 to 45 will be occupied by an alternative program.
So if you want to watch RTL via the provider MagentaTV, you still have the option to do so.
For jungle camp fans, the stream via the RTL+ app is definitely worth it, as the current season runs until February 4th.
In addition, the Superbowl 2024 is just around the corner, which will be broadcast on television by RTL on the night of Sunday, February 11th to Monday, February 12th.
Live streams are available from the paid streaming providers RTL+ and DAZN.
