Seventeen months after his ascension to the English throne, Charles III announced that he was suffering from cancer via a succinct press release issued by Buckigham Palace on Monday February 5.
The day after this announcement which shocked the United Kingdom, the king appeared in his car in London, smiling.
Sitting next to his wife Camilla, he greeted passers-by gathered in front of his residence at Clarence House, located in the heart of the English capital.

According to the AP news agency, the King and Queen of England were to travel to nearby Buckingham Palace and then travel by helicopter to the Sandringham residence in the east of the country.
Cancer detected early
“Charles III and his doctors are very, very optimistic,” an anonymous source told the
Daily Mail
, Monday, February 5.
The 75-year-old sovereign would indeed be in a positive state of mind in light of the news of his cancer.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, for his part, was pleased that the disease had been detected so early.
“Like everyone, we are shocked and sad, and all our thoughts are with him and his family,” he told the BBC on Tuesday February 6.
Fortunately, [the cancer] was detected early and everyone wishes him to receive the treatment he needs and make a full recovery.”
For the moment, Buckingham Palace has not specified the type of cancer from which Charles III suffers, but indicated that it was not prostate cancer.
Prince Harry's comeback
Prince Harry, exiled in the United States and at odds with the royal family, arrived in London at midday on Tuesday to visit his father, after the shock announcement of his cancer, British media reported.

, the Duke of Sussex, who renounced his royal obligations in 2020, arrived at Heathrow Airport after a night flight, before heading directly to Clarence House, the London residence of Charles and Camilla.
