Preparing the simple apple pie

  • Preheat the oven to 160 degrees (fan oven).

Alternatively, you can also use 180 degrees (top/bottom heat).

  • First wash and peel the apples.

You remove the stalk and the core.

You can either cut the apple into small cubes or slices.

A little tip: Drizzle lemon juice over the apple to preserve its color.

  • Mix the soft butter with the (vanilla) sugar and a pinch of salt in a bowl.

Then mix the eggs one at a time while stirring.

  • Put the dry ingredients together in another bowl.

You mix in flour with baking powder and almonds.

You can also stir in the cinnamon into the ingredients.

Then slowly fold the dry ingredients into the other bowl.

    Add the milk alternately.

  • Finally, carefully fold the apple pieces into the dough.

  • Place the dough in a greased loaf pan (approx. 30 × 11 cm).

The cake then goes into the oven for 60 minutes.

Check it every now and then. If the cake gets too dark, you can cover it with a piece of aluminum foil or baking paper.

Use the chopstick test to check whether the cake is ready.

  • If you like, you can mix some sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle it on the cooled cake.

Alternatively, you can enjoy the juicy apple cake plain or with a dollop of cream.

Gourmets also combine the piece of apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
