The national strike of railway workers started at 9 this morning, proclaimed by the basic unions Cub and Usb who are protesting for the renewal of the contract.
The 8-hour stop, until 5pm, will affect all companies in the sector and will have an impact not only on Trenitalia, but also on Italo and Trenord.
Also crossing their arms are the freight transport workers and those of RFI, the company that manages the railway network and infrastructure.
Commuters who use local trains to travel could suffer the greatest inconvenience, while for long-distance travel no particularly critical situations are currently expected.
