#MeToo in French cinema continues.
Actress Sarah Grappin accused
director Alain Corneau of sexual assault this Tuesday, February 13, to our colleagues at
L'Obs .
She believes she suffered a controlling relationship with the director, which began in the 1990s when she was 16 and he was 52.
These accusations come just a few days after the complaints filed by actress Judith Godrèche against filmmakers Benoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon.
Sarah Grappin says she became aware of the situation after reading
Consent
, by Vanessa Spingora, and after reading Judith Godrèche's story.
According to Sarah Grappin, the relationship that Judith Godrèche had with Benoît Jacquot was similar to the one she had with Alain Corneau, who gave her her first role in
Le Nouveau Monde
, in 1994.
Digital penetrations
It was during this filming that Sarah Grappin was kissed for the first time by the filmmaker, awarded a few years earlier by the César for best director in 1992 for
Tous les Matins du Monde
.
From there, a relationship of a year and a half began, during which Alain Corneau invited her to a restaurant, to the cinema, or to his home.
“Once he greeted me in an Indian sari, he sat cross-legged and put me astride him. He penetrated me with his fingers from the front, from the back, and he said that we would not go any further
,” she tells
L’Obs
.
She also mentions digital penetrations on two other occasions in the director's car.
These meetings would have taken place when the filmmaker's companion, Nadine Trintignant, was not there.
“For a very long time, I went beyond embellishing, I told myself a great love story to survive.
The work of recent years has been to come out of denial
,” said Sarah Grappin.
Questioned by the weekly, Nadine Trintignant for her part considered these accusations
“ridiculous”
.
“I hear this nonsense from all sides, not at all about Alain, but about lots of people and I don’t want to take part in all that.
This is all ridiculous.
It's not against you, but it's against the way people say nonsense.
I don’t want people to say anything, especially about my husband, who is dead and can no longer defend himself.”
