A dying plant is a sad sight, and not just for hobby gardeners.
But many problems can be easily solved with cinnamon.

So it's all the worse when the green favorites suddenly hang their heads.
But it's too early to give up now, because a spice might be able to save your favorite flower after all.
Cinnamon is a real all-rounder when it comes to plants.
Whether on the balcony or in the garden, cinnamon is not only a helpful remedy in the kitchen.
If the houseplant was injured during repotting or moving, for example, then you should use the Christmas spice.
Plant expert Karin Greiner explains to

how you should proceed.
To do this, take the injured part of the plant, for example the root, and coat it with cinnamon.
This disinfects the area and saves the plant from dying.

Spice as a home remedy: Cinnamon can save your dying plants
If the plant in the room, in the garden, or on the balcony is affected by mold, quick intervention is also important.
Otherwise the fungus will spread and the plant will die.
To prevent this, a cinnamon trick can also be used, as a study
published in the
journal Fungal Biology shows in 2023.
The researchers examined how well cinnamon, fennel, oregano and thyme oils help against gray mold rot.
This pest attacks 235 different plants and can cause allergies in humans.
The study showed: Cinnamon oil had the greatest effect.
From the experts' point of view, this is due, on the one hand, to the antifungal effect of the spice.
In addition, according to the researchers, cinnamon oil also supports indirectly by improving the plant's immunity.
This is also because cinnamon can support root formation and thus plant growth.

But mold is not the only annoying pest that can cause lasting damage to your plants.
Aphids or other creepy crawlies also cause a lot of damage.

Add cinnamon to the water
Mix cinnamon with rock powder in a ratio of 1:1 and add to the leaves and base

However, pay attention to the type of cinnamon, especially if you use it on edible plants.
Because if the coumarin content is very high, the type of cinnamon should only be consumed in very small quantities and ideally not too regularly.
