Will the 99 students of the Avicenne college in Nice find the door closed at the start of the school year in September?
Pointed out on Monday by the Minister of National Education Nicole Belloubet, this private Muslim establishment outside of a contract, installed since 2015 in the Ariane district – one of the poorest in the city – is in the sights of the rector Natacha Chicot, who has just contacted the prefect of Alpes-Maritimes to request its closure at the end of the year.
At issue: a “very large part of the funding which is not traceable”, she tells us, emphasizing the “vagueness” reigning around the origin of the payments allowing the college to pay its teachers and its operating costs. .
The rector relies on the anti-separatism law of 2021, which provides that “the private educational establishment provides (…) budgetary, accounting and financial documents which specify the origin, amount and nature of the resources of the establishment”.
