The crime of Eva Falcón, committed in 2000 by her partner
Ramón Ángel
Abregú , went
unpunished
this Tuesday
since the Justice of Tierra del Fuego declared
the case
statute barred .
The femicide was
on the run for 22 years
after escaping from prison and turned himself in last October to claim what the magistrate ruled.
The decision was adopted by the
Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeals
of the city of
Río Grande
and this resolution was appealed in a final instance before the Superior Court of Justice of the province, so we must wait if the ruling remains firm. .
For 22 years,
Abregú remained hidden in the jungle
, in the Chaco Salteño, and managed to re-enter Tierra del Fuego without being detected.
His lawyer revealed that he passed through four border crossings - two Argentine and two Chilean - "furtively" and without carrying documents with him.
In this way, the accused was able to walk to the doors of the Criminal Trial Court of Río Grande last October, the same one that had ordered his capture more than 20 years ago.
He did it together with the lawyer Alejandro De la Riva, who presented a brief requesting his release due to the "prescription of the case."
If the House's ruling is final, Abregú will regain his freedom.
If he has to serve the sentence, the femicide could request house arrest because she is 70 years old.
