The approval in the EU Council of the European directive on corporate due diligence, aimed at introducing corporate responsibility for the violation of workers' rights, the environment and human rights, also with respect to suppliers, has been skipped.
The final compromise text was submitted to the ambassadors of the 27 at Coreper for approval, according to the Belgian presidency of the EU Council, but the necessary qualified majority was missing.
The situation will be considered timely.
The position of Italy is decisive, as from what transpires from diplomatic sources, it abstained.
